so how's everyone? i'm back from my week out in the carribean sun, playing blackjack for $50 hands and drinking white russians, eating lots of food and sitting in hot tubs.

the relative drudgery of bancroft hall life and such i cant even begin to express, coming from that one awesome awesome week. damn. but having settled into something resembling a routine, i'm beginning to put the finishing touches on the semester and revving up for the final push to the end of the semester, and the end of the year.

what should i do for my face? it's a little tanned but not too burned, and i'd like to keep it looking pretty dark mostly. i'm exfoliatating twice a week, should i be doing it more or less? with my combination skin, will using toner once a day as usual make the tan fade? help!

so another week has passed. you know it's such a great feeling when you meet up with/talk to people you knew from years ago, and if they were/are good friends, you pick it up right away sort of from where you left off, almost. it's a sense of being anchored, or remembered almost.

so heres a postulation: humans are nothing more than little biological machines whose goal is the continuation of their genetic code. like viruses which live and die, after duplicating, our own goals are barely more noble than that. there are so many counterarguments to this which are emotionally based, but often they do not have a rationale to logically take this postulation down.
1) is it a case of reductio ad absurdum? that is, this statement is too simplistic that there is not a coutner for it?
2) is this statement too poorly defined- "goal?"
3) is this just offensive to think about?

well i suppose the best way to take this is to counterattack the statement by proving that humans as a species are motivated by other than their own propogation. i cannot accept that te presence of a minority of individuals who gave their lives for an ideal is a sufficient counterexample, because there are always exceptions and aberrations. is there something else in all, or most humans that is a driving force, consistent across cultures, divides, religions and continents?

but too much talk and not enough happy fun times. so i had a pretty good today, got that striper board sorted out, got the drivers license, got the jeep title, got the downpayment, got some shorts and got some shoes, got a few good books and some good movie propositions to worry about, got spring break coming up, got friends to hang out with and companionship to enjoy. also good music was found at the itunes music store today- sway by bic runga, from years ago.. one of my soppy favorites.

my hip is pretty healed up, went to aikido last night but finished still feeling pretty good and painless. i'm glad that ended fine, i hope to get back into more controlled violence soon as possible. anyway, off to evening meal for me.

onisaburo deguchi was a shinto guy. omoto-kyo priest type person.

alrighty then, back to the grind this week at boat school, finding various ways to entertain ourselves. doesnt look like too much is on the horizon, perhaps a little work this week, but not much, mainly reading reading and reading. some time to prepare for the trip to wall street this weekend plus some shopping and hanging out with friends.

blackjack playing is good fun, gonna keep improving and playing calmer and calmer is what it is i think. also its important to have a nice shirt. and a calm pair of pants. and cleaned, relaxed, detoxified. after eating a ton of fried chicken.
